This week marks the sixth anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, and this morning’s American-Statesman memorializes 72 men and women who died this past year serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. These 72 young people are from Central Texas and Fort Hood. So far, we have lost 540 troops from Central Texas. They’re our neighbors.

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the hills, from the lake, from the sky.
All is well, safely rest,
God is nigh.

My friend Monk, thanks so very much for not forgetting about them as it's easier to do then we care to admit. I spent more than a few missions at the beginning of the war prior to my retiring bringing home many a draped casket on our planes. It was always a sobering and very introspective flight. Thanks again for reminding us...if only for a moment to pause, because they no longer have any tomorrows, so we should... no must remember them today.
