You never see any comparisons of the the risks of oral vs vaginal. You never see any type of studies, just generalizations. They always say that it's too hard to determine because people who are having oral sex are usually having vaginal sex as well so it's difficult to tell where the infection may have come from.

We all know that bbbj is common in the hobby, bbfs is not. The same is true in the lifestyle. Knowing something about both of those I can tell you that for the most part people just aren't worried about oral infections.

I've seen speculation that the enzymes in the mouth create a hostile environment for most STD's to be able to survive and propagate. That it is more likely that an open sore or bleeding gums is to blame for the introduction of a STD orally.
I've also seen that speculation lambasted. I don't know if anyone has the answer.

I think that the behavior in two of the riskier groups, as mentioned, really should tell us something about the actual number of incidences in which infections are spread. If it were more of a problem people would take more precautions. I wonder how many providers who are good with bbbj have actually contracted an infection. If more had it seems that more would be cbj instead.

There is a lot of speculation and misinformation in my opinion. I see billboards in town by some group using wild numbers like there are 10 million new STD cases among teens every year. If you start crunching the numbers...How many teens are there meaning 13 -19? The last census said is was about 30 million. How many are sexually active? Half? So 15 million sexually active teens are contracting 10 million STD's in the US every year. Now roll that number over the course of the 7 years and think about that for a minute. There aren't 15 million new sexually active teens every year so that means some of them are getting it over and over and over? Doesn't make sense. I'm sure whoever puts those billboards up gets gov't funding for conducting tests for teens so the more they can scare into getting tested the more money the gov't gives them.

I'm not saying there isn't risk, not by any means. I'm saying that the misinformation or lack of information is not good for anyone.
