slow time of year

according to my annual records, we are entering a slow time of the year in spring time. I always attribute it to spring time activities like getting outside for gardening and yard work, getting back out to the water to go fishing and boating, and spring fever spending on travel and home and yard improvements. it is also festival season here with spring break and sxsw as well. Ladies does business slow down in the spring for you too? men what do u spend money on instead of hobbying for the next few months? it's been my experience that about June when things get too hot to go outside the guys return to hobbying. what are your feelings about hobbying in the spring time? Does sxsw keep you from hobbying or do you go see music and women during that bacchanalian fest week? do out of town girls come in for sxsw to work? I usually take off wed-sun to do all the free day parties for sxsw. what are your sxsw plans?

In my experience when kids are out of school is when it's "slower". Because of added costs of childcare, extra activities etc. And obviously Thanksgiving/Christmas for most part. But there's still a good handful who don't have kids and it doesn't affect at all. The one thing about this is it's really not "reliable" or good "full-time" income in the long run. There's too many "down seasons" for it to work, along with the mix in of cancellations and lack of respect for the fact this is at its core "our job" and way to provide for our family. While in comparison, they are just saving money. There are plenty of businesses that have cancellation policies in place, this should be the same but unfortunately can't really enforce it.
I've typically done okay in the Spring, but again it really does vary. What type of clients you have/attract, whether it's the 1st of the month and if your clients have disposable income that easily or use it when they can, etc.

the difference might be that I get more older grandpa types where kids are no longer an issue and you get more younger dad aged guys with kids. my average aged client is about 50 and I would hazard a guess yours would be closer to 30-35. kids throw a monkey wrench in lotsa things like disposable income and free time.

Mine range from 30-60+ actually but yeah that's why I said it all depends on the clients people have/see. I have a decent handful that are single with no kids and have the disposable income to come regularly, or older gents who have great retirement funds and some with limited. It's going to vary for everyone. Everyone attracts a different crowd, therefore their slower times will vary depending on that.

There's usually a lot of traveling folks and it can be good! The expensive hotels suck though lol
