Question What's your favorite restaurant in your city?

    Hello There,

I am always traveling, and so many new places pop up all the time. I can't ever find anything good on yelp either because people leave such crazy reviews haha! I was just wondering where folks liked to eat? Perhaps I might try something new, somewhere new, when I'm on the road right?

    Peace & Blessings,

    Kelly512

+1 on Chuy's and Salt Lick

But if your travels take you to South Austin be sure to check out Valentino's on Manchaca. I'm not sure if their dining room is open yet, so it may still be carry out to the picnic tables, or take away if you prefer.

But if you want the best brisket and ribs that Austin has to offer, that's the place to go. It may be a bit of a drive, but well worth it.

I’ll second Moonshine for brunch and Chuy’s for Texmex!

Thanks Mark and Nikki for your endorsements. I am heavily biased toward south Austin. I live here, love here, work here, eat here and hobby here. Of course, no offense to those of you that prefer north. You probably hate driving south as much as I hate driving north.

    But I digress.

I wanted to mention some additional favorites...

    TexMex: Flores, Torchy’s, Matt’s, Trudy’s
Brunch: Cafe Blue Hill Country Galleria
    Pizza: Pieous
    Thai: Aroi

    I’m getting hungry!

Kelly, despite your travels, you’re an Austin girl right? What are YOUR favorites?

For Mexican I love El Mercado or Enchiladas y mas. For Pizza I like the Brick Oven. For dessert I like the Cheesecake Factory. Well, that pretty much sums up my diet:)

For BBQ - the County Line
Texmex - Chuy's but really only the Jalapeno ranch - it is like crack
Burgers - I have heard HopDoddy's is good but haven't tried it yet on my TDL

How has no one mentioned Lucy's fried chicken, Stiles and switch bbq, Matt's le Rancho, or quality seafood? Close by in pflugerville is a fairly new sushi place called iron fish, amazing sushi.

I'm trying new places all the time, but these are my faves thus far:

Taco: One Taco (or Tyson's if I'm drunk & want to stick close to home)
    Asian: Bun Belly & Kome
Late night vibe: Dive Bar & Dozen Street
    Happy hour/study cocktails: Spider House
Sportsball viewing: B.D Riley's, but not the one downtown (Obvious choice being from New England)

I’m going to Matt’s on Monday for happy hour. They make one of the best chili rellenos. If you order one, ask them to smother it in chopped pecans. Yum!

As for desserts, I recently had an excellent flan and sopapillas at Trudy’s.

Favorite restaurant in my city (San Antonio) is Sorrento Pizza & Restaurant. Small, intimate, family owned and operated. Have enjoyed it immensely for years.

If any of you ladies are in town and want to go there please let me know in advance so I can plan. I would love to show it to you.

I'm shocked no one brought up Magnolia Cafe on SoCo.
