Free Concerts for the older crowd!

Is anyone aware that the city of Leawood has a free concert series every year? Last year had Eddie Money, 10,000 Maniacs, Spin Doctors.

    Here is this years lineup.

    June 7 – The Romantics
June 14 – The Fabulous Thunderbirds
    June 21 – Fastball
    June 28 – Sister Hazel

The concerts are in the parking lot behind Town Center (119th & Nall). Gates open at 6:00 and it's open seating (your lawn chairs). Food and drinks available for purchase provided by Herford House.

I love to go to the free Happy Hour series (Sept-May) with the KC Symphony at Kauffman Center. It's a beautiful venue, and the concerts are always unique. Once they did a tribute to Frank Zappa!

No coolers, but you can buy wine and beer there. Thursday night the crowd was really small. Only about 500 people. We had front row seats!

And for the really old folks, there's a band concert every Sunday night in old downtown Overland Park at the gazebo in the park. A pleasant evening, kind of like you're in Mayberry. You can bring in coolers, but no open display of alcohol. Late summer, they have local jazz and dixieland bands.
