I have a few faves, especially sandwich places. I'm just outside Round Rock so there's a lot of good spots opening up.

For us transplanted Chicagoans there's a new place called Wise Guy's, which is on Greenlawn right off of 45 in Round Rock. They have the Italian beefs, Chicago hot dogs, Maxwell St. Polish sausage plus they do a really good cheese steak and other goodies. The owner also got the oven from the now-defunct Gino's East that was on 6th Street (they got their franchise tag removed since they couldn't cook the pizzas right) and will have it installed soon.

Noble Sandwich on 620 & Lakecreek is a great little place with unique sandwiches. My fave is the PBLT (pork belly, lettuce & roasted tomatoes).

Hoody's is always good, also on 620 by the Round Rock high school.

Ajo's on Main St in Round Rock is really good. Really fresh food and great bar.

Andiamo's is still my favorite Italian restaurant, on Rutland & Burnet in that funky strip center. The menu constantly changes depending on what's fresh and in season. Not long ago I went and had scallops with linguine cooked in squid ink. Man, was that great!

I've enjoyed Fixe (Southern) and Le Politique (French) lately. ATX Cocina is also pretty good, in an uppity-Mexican cuisine kinda way.

Thanks for the hipster restaurant recommendations. I personally like Jack in the Box tacos - 2 tacos for a $1.00- can't beat that! Not into uppity places.

I usually hit up Magnolia Cafe on South Lamar whenever I'm in town.
