Being towed during a visit

...the guy specified that it was totally ok to park wherever...do you believe that the guy should be held accountable?

Under this fact scenario, absolutely...maybe! (I love these kind of lawyer answers.) The guy should know where guests are or are not allowed to park. He should have passed that information on. Assuming he is correct (You can park wherever) and you had a run in with a rouge tow truck company/driver, then it’s between you, apartment Mgt. and the tow company.

Assuming he is wrong (You can’t park wherever) I would hit him up for the cost of towing damages and any incidentals such as lost business, property damage, etc.

I spent the night with a lady friend of mine on here at her apartment and my car got towed........... She forgot to mention that I needed a parking tag in my car for the night....... Lol..... From then on, whether a provider tells me where to park, I still drive around first and even ask the property maintenance or someone that works at complex where I can park...... I also look for those "TOW-AWAY" zone tags and see what they say.........

This did happen to me several years back. I did park across the street away from her place and when I returned, the vehicle was gone. I went back across the street to her place and she was like yeah that happens, not sure why you didn't park in my complex. She took me to the impound and got my vehicle out.

Accountable or not.....if he or she don’t pay for the tow.....the end game is your responsibility......I personally don’t park anywhere without confirmation and signs. Having been towed and broken into.....I’m on edge where I go who I see. If I think twice....it’s a definite no.

At my previous location I paid for a reserved parking spot in front of my front door. Now since my new spot has tighter security I have to direct someone where exactly to park. If you dont park there well.... thats on you!

Yep, happened to me one time at the original Escape. Several of us parked across the street in a strip center behind a Burger King and while we were partying (social) one of the guys stated that there was a tow truck in action. My car was one that got towed and I had to spend my session money getting my car back. Thankfully Big Louie didn't get his towed and he took a couple of us to find out where the car was.

I once had my car towed twice in one day. It's a pretty good story. I learned a lot.

Never been towed, if it’s an apt I always park in the clearly identified, designated visitor's spot, no matter how far the schlep is to her apt. If it’s a notel or downscale hotel, parking’s usually not an issue. An upscale hotel, I’ll pay for parking.
