Red flag laws are not very useful if private party sales don't require a background check.

I do't get the resistance to background checks on PPT sales. I am a native Texan, but have lived - and purchased/sold firearms - in several other states. Having to go through a FFL on sales makes it safer for everyone - less risk of anyone being robbed during the sale and if you sell, you are clear if it's used criminally afterwards. It's no inconvenience for sellers, and minor for buyers - unless they are unable to purchase legally.

Internet sales already have to go through a FFL, so this isn't an uncommon process.

I agree. As an owner of many different guns, mandatory background checks aren't that big a deal.
Red flag laws are a little disconcerting to me though. You could have a yelling match with your neighbor and they could retaliate by calling the cops and red flagging you. A law I want to see is some sort of equal punishment for deliberate false accusations. Like false rape claims or any other false legal action. The punishment should be near equal to what was falsely accused.

It hasn't gotten to that point yet. Only you can keep it that way.

Why give vindictive people a means to further their agenda? Under the guise of safety?? I think not. For we will lose more rights!
Enforce the current laws and hold people accountable .
