Ok, MG. I agree to a certain extent. On the other hand, I operate on the "No glove No Love" principle. In addition to dispensing free condoms the VA will also perform a full panel of test for STD or infections for eligible veterans on request with an appointment. And "YES" Ms Universal I get tested on a regular basis and have a 100% passing grade so far. What can I say, I an overachiever just like my Olympic class swimmer sperm. It must be genetic.

^ Good info. Thx for sharing. Just make sure if you do take PreP you do it daily without fail. The massive efficacy of PreP (up to 99% -- truly phenomenal) comes from regular & daily use. It only prevents HIV though, so you still need condoms to protect against other stuff.

That's not a bad link J. Had some decent into in it but I still consider the CDC to be the final say on the stats. That link is really good (even includes citations which is very nice) but it doesn't discuss stats. The stats I used are from the CDC and the studies listed or used on their site. You can definitely find varying stays on different sites. But all in all I would trust the CDC info over various sites which could be biased or have incorrect info. I don't think the site you linked has bad info though. A cursory read through it and it seems fairly solid but I don't see anything discounting the stats I raised.

Also, just to be clear the larger numbers I used (other than 1 in 2500 exposures which is straight from the CDC) are extrapolated and hypothetical using the suggested effectiveness and transmission reduction risks per the CDC. You have to realize that risk reductions are not additive. There is no such thing as 100% protection. Which is exactly why I don't think anyone should do anything, not indiscriminately, with random people, especially in the hobby, but also regular ol night life, without first taking precautions. I do want to give it proper perspective though. That's what causes people to freak out if an accident occurs. It could even cause severe depression, anxiety, panic, etc... They should calm down and realize they need to get tested and that the risk of something "horrible" is quite small if it's just an accident and you're otherwise safe. That's all it is (at least what I'm trying to espouse anyway).

I think using protection is paramount and in your case JJ you are smart for not doing bbbj if that makes you nervous. Totally totally totally. But that doesn't mean the risk is artificially higher than it actually is. It just means you are even safer. Which is awesome btw.
