While the sample was limited, it looks like the flow of tech workers from the Bay Area to Austin (vs other locations in the study) seems to be a no brainer. That much free cash means rate inflation around Austin might stick, a scary thought for someone that likes value for time spent.

I see what you were getting at now. No question the overwhelming majority of migration is Bay Area tech. I'm unclear on if you meant free cash simply b/c of the extremely high salary rates among all professional level tech workers nationwide, let alone the Bay Area (which is *cuh-razy* high lol ), or if you meant the free cash available b/c of the equity they pulled out of their home? That's the biggest reason why Bay Area to Austin is a no-brainer. Austin is second only to SF/Bay with 6000+ registered "tech companies" per Austin Chamber of Commerce but our cost of living is insanely good compared to northern Cali.

I wouldn't worry about it quzi. The subset of people in the hobby is simply far too small, even the industry as a whole, to have any real effect. Nah. No biggie.

I have not read any of the comments. I purely read the title of this thread and I say bravo to the ladies. I feel what they provide for us is priceless. I never haggle on what is asked, and if I feel they are under charging I add. Fair is fair. So charge what you feel your worth and let the market respond. We are here for a reason and you provide us a solution to that. I know I will probably catch some flack for this, but lets face it we have been spoiled in Austin.

To those who think we are spoiled in Austin, I’m guessing you’ve never hobbied in any of the other major Texas cities: Houston, Dallas, even San Antonio, beat the shit out of Austin on all the hobby fronts – – strip clubs, massage parlors, escort services, street walkers, and the lifestyle scene.

I didn’t take the time to read your credentials, but dollars to donuts, I’m guessing you’re a Mandle. If not, you have more money than sense. Charging more for a gallon of milk won’t keep it from souring any sooner. Sticking with the dairy theme: yes; the cream rises to the top but in this market, even the dregs are charging the same as the organic, pure, non-homogenized, low-fat, high-protein, fancy shit that comes in a glass bottle, when they need to be charging closer to powdered milk-in-a-box prices.

This isn’t San Francisco, San Jose, Sausalito, or even Oakland: there is more than one grocery store in the area and even some dairy farms nearby. We shouldn’t be paying Exclusive prices for readily-available items.

Maybe it's just me but it's too much work to find a good session in Austin. I haven't had a session with an Austin provider since last August. I don't have the time or patience to be dealing with providers that have bad TCB or too lazy to post a recent or accurate pic. When I log onto P411, it seems like every provider in Austin is charging at least 300/hour. If I'm spending 300, you better be something special.

Hmmm, if you don't question your other professionals in your life about their rates, why would you question your companions? Either pay their rate, find a cheaper companion or stop hobbying.

Deep calls to deep. If you're a low-balling dude, the session will have a low-balling vibe. So it transcends the money factor for me.

Ain't nothing less sexy than a cheap man. Unless he's cheap and stupid.

I don't think it's wise to talk about monetary exchanges in this current climate. Prices are prices. Pay them...or not....it's up to you. Although, I will say if you thought in was work before to get a quality session, now it's going to be harder. Just a fact of life folks.

I never “question” the rate. I ask and if it’s out of my price range I simply move on. NOTE: My price range is set by me just as a providers is set by her. If you can call me cheap I’ll call you out as well. I didn’t get what I have by throwing money around. I manage my money well. I maintain an 800+ credit score, own my house (that means no loan) and have $0 in other debt, less my car. I have cash in the bank and investments. I just don’t throw my money around, especially for pussy. If that’s cheap, so be it, you still are not getting my money at rates “I” feel are too high. I’ll spend my hard earned cash somewhere else.

Luv, all of those things (zero debt, excellent FICO, no mortgage) have no bearing when it comes to donations with providers.

A cheap man haggles. Asks for specials. Tries to lowball when he shows up for appointments. That's what makes a man cheap--not being a wise consumer.

By all means, shop 'til you drop until you find a price point you're comfortable with donating. You sound like a man who does his due diligence. But if you haggle, then you're cheap.

Would some providers negotiate if they were desperate for cash? Absolutely! I don't think it's so far out of line for a monger to ask politely. JMO! I guess I've been lucky to have providers politely decline or say yes. It has not been a issue for me with the ladies but I don't always ask either.

Hmmm, I hope providers are never so "desperate for cash" that they have to move off their suggested donations because a client thought he could take advantage of them because they were "desperate for cash."

Do you show up to your dentist/doctor/lawyer/accountant during your appointment, and "ask politely" for a discount? If the answer is no, then please reconsider doing it to companions. If you've had companions who were cool with it, then good for you. But I feel like I'm giving a high five to a dude who undertips at a restaurant.

You say it has not been an issue, but LESS DONATION is always an issue for a companion. No matter how you slice it.

How would clients feel if, during the date, a companion were to "ask politely" for a tip? I mean, companions are just female mongers so it's not out of line, right? But dudes would call that an "upsell." Which they hate.

For real, if a lowered donation is OFFERED or ADVERTISED, jump all over it. If not, please don't ask.
