    Chevron Houston Marathon 2020!

Just curious to know if any guys or ladies here are participating in the Houston Marathon Jan 2020? Half or full marathon? If so, when and/or how are you training or preparing? This would be my 2nd year upcoming for the half marathon. I started light early this year but increased my distance slightly this summer. Just looking for tips or ideas to enhance my training.

2020 will be my 8th year doing it. My only advice is have a good training plan and build your mileage slowly. Your speed work, long runs and recovery run are your bread and butter. Don't skip them. Best wishes on your journey and hoping for perfect weather.

Full or half marathon held every January. I think it's always third sunday of the month. Begins downtown and goes through west university, Galleria and back into downtown. Full marathon is definitely quite an experience. 20,000 plus runners. With plenty of eye candy

    Nascobar21,

There is another event in the last weekend of October that cane be done as either a half-marathon or a 10K...

There's a lot of folks that run it as a prep for the real deal in January.

And don't skip on your post-workout stretches and strength training.

Speaking of which, does anyone know which forum is the best place for me to advertise my services as a personal trainer? I tried looking in the Houston forums but didn't know which one is appropriate.

Good to hear you guys have survived so far. 18 miles this weekend then next is a 20 miler. After that is taper.
I've gained about 3 pounds, so I know I'm ready.

Trident21, marathon is a good goal. If you've never done one before, make sure you are fully committed to your training plan.
Good luck to all of us running. Hopefully the weather gods will be with us and it'll be a perfect day.
