I upgraded my 2-yr old home computer mostly because Internet Explorer was SOOOO slow, only to find that it wasn't the computer at all, but IE7!

So, I am trying out a beta version of Google Chrome. Web surfing is MUCH faster, but I'm not really comfortable with some of the features or with the layout.

I'm running XP-Pro SP-3. Due to the nunber of machines on both my home and my office networks (3 and 8), I don't want to upgrade my OS at this time. Although, If I do decide to close my office, I will probably migrate to either Linux or <gasp> Vista.

Anyone have some thoughts on this?

    Thanks.

I am running XP SP3 as well and got rid of IE7. Just too much crap out here written for IE.

I started running Firefox a few months ago and it is easy to use, easy to update and it seems to be meeting all of my needs. I tried Opera but just did not like the feel as well as Firefox.

I would switch to Linux but for the business software. Won't run on anything but Windows.

IE7 is garbage. I uninstalled it and got back with 6.0. I do like Firefox no probelms with that and its fast.

I'm a Firefox user too. Opera is good, and I keep IE around just for those rare occasions I have to use a website run by MS loyalists who design it so features I need to use only work in IE.

Well - that's pretty unanimous. I'm going to try Firefox.

About Vista - I'm told that the best mobile apps are being written for Vista, that most of the latest phones, etc. run on scaled-down versions of it?

Almost everyone I know that has experience with it hates it, but I assume I can run dual OS's just like I do now so that I can take advantage of the mobile interface capabilities?

I have the Samsung Behold touchscreen that interfaces with my network, but is supposed to work best with Vista? My Samsung T629 slider worked OK with XP, but I never got full functionality.

Maybe I'll be better off getting an IPhone? Does anyone know how well it interfaces with an office network? Also, I understand that the Blackberry uses mostly proprietary software and isn't real friendly outside of it's own network?

    Thanks

Firefox is great but (always a butt) if it remains on,even in the background it seems to consume memory so you have to reboot from time to time.

Firefox is what I use, and it has several plug-ins which I find invaluable that aren't compatible with and aren't made for any other browser.
