I'm looking for burial insurance …. figured I'd see if there is anyone here I can do business with before I start randomly making calls.
I'm not sure if it matters, but the person in question is a veteran & will be buried at the VA cemetery, but of course, there are still thousands of dollars of expenses that I have to cover.

If it’s to the point that you are planning a funeral in the near future then insurance isn’t going to be an option, at this point the cheapest option would be cremation. Burial insurance is a whole life type policy (basically forced savings) if they are at a later stage in life the premium would be as much as the burial (insurance companies are in business to make money not lose it). Cremation is about $500 vs $10,000 for burial not including plot & gravestone.

You can also call any funeral home and ask to speak to a "family services counselor". They will of course want you to go in and visit with them.
IF you tell them what you are looking for, they can at least present you with your options.
Yes, they will try and sell services to you. But so will an insurance agent.
Thanks for the replies, sadly the person passed away. Luckily I was able to find a great funeral home that agreed to accept a few payments for the balance of the burial.
