Speaking as an IT guy, intermittent and inconsistent errors are the hardest to diagnose, find and fix. If everyone is having the same issue, that's often like an Easter egg laying on bare ground, or not far from it. But when you have errors that appear infrequently, or seemingly have no commonality of occurrence, those can make you pull your hair out trying to figure out how/why/when/not and fix it. Bear with 'em. They're doin' what they can. It's not easy duty behind the curtain.
Not all of the boards here on ourhome2 are set to have to do the drop down. I am looking in on the Texas North and East board also and it acts like most other webforums with defaulting to latest post first and goes to beginning of time in descrending order. I am confused as to why different subforum locations act differently in that regard. But I am getting used to it.
Not sure what the malfunction is. There are multiple isuues. I can easily remedy the drop down lololol. Just call me Cialis! It's the forums nor clearing once they've been read. I pretty much have to mark forum read them reload page. Also, in several forums my own posts don't show up immediately.
Meh, CK will get it fixed. Ghosts in the machine being chased by gremlins...
I was in Texas this past weekend, and the forums there work like I’ve grown accustomed to, and prefer. The newest post first and older as you go down list. Do wish the OK forums could be updated with that same feature.
I get tired having to select the post date twice in order to get the feature to work each time. Need to conserve my energy for the ladies. Or quit being a whiny bitch. But where’s the fun in that.
Did you get a reference yet?
I just made a post in the Technical forum about the issue. It's quite frustrating for sure.
Check your personal profile settings. "browsing options"
There's one called "thread display mode" and you need to mark linear display to -- "newest first"
Tried to make this change, but with every attempt after changing to “newest first”
And then “Save Changes” my settings return to “oldest first”.
Thanks for the suggestion.
On the bright side, in spite of the settings when I read Texas forums they seem to display newest first.
@Caspian it did the same to me, try this. I intentionally made the changes from my PC. It took twice, with the last time this way. Make changes hit save, hit save again and then refresh your page, then log out, back in, and check to see if settings stayed.
Still I've been messing with it off and on all day and maybe Admin made changes too because,, now all threads pg 1 has last posts. It's like upside down backwards. Oy vey!
@Caspian, @Blaze, works the same for me. Changed settings, saved, returns to "oldest first" despite logging out and back in three times. I guess we wait.
I figured out that wasn't even the setting that I wanted, as it flipped the posts in the thread into the wrong order. It took me five tries and thirty minutes to get it back! Yikes.
