I’ve been to his steak house. The restaurant is named Nusr-et and it’s in downtown Dallas. The food was great, but not cheap. I spent about $400 for two people including tip. Salt Bae did his little show at the table, but from my understanding he has been traveling to open restaurants worldwide so don’t expect to see him there.
I went the second week it was open, and would say I had pretty low expectations, given the restaurant's popularity was attributed to a meme from 2017. That being said, the food was all pretty delicious, but absolutely not worth the price tag. There's a novelty to it when the chef (Nusret) is there to do the cutting and salt thing for Instagram, but I don't think I would ever go and pay the same price if he's not there. But yeah, I consider myself a snob when it comes to steak, and I came away thinking it was actually pretty great. But worth the price? Hell no.
A few weeks ago, I visited Istanbul, Turkey and went to his restaurant there (same one), and it's the same food, but for 1/4th the price. At that price point, it's absolutely worth it. Can't say the same about Dallas.
Thank u
Honestly there are so many better steak houses then Nusr-et. The food was mediocre and the price tag was on the high end. Essentially you are paying for novelty. Ive to to quite a few streak houses and there is no comparison. Go to Del Friscos
Ive eaten there… price tag is inflated. What other steakhouses in the area do you recommend? Nick & Sam’s???
While the food was fine, I also thought it was overrated. There were also several articles at the end of the year that came out explaining that the line cooks at his restaurants make $12/hr while the wagyu tomahawk they serve costs $1100 so I have some ethical issues with that. I’ll be taking my business to Nick & Sams too :)
Wonder if they have the regular tipping policy in place that acts like a trickle down to the rest of the employees?
Not that I would know what customers give up after they pay for the chow.
Would rather go to Nick & Sam's or Pappas Bros before going back to that place.
I prefer Ruth Chris. They way their steak melts in your mouth :quickey: Nusr-et was nice but you’re definitely paying just to be in salt baes restaurant
Not impressed and really paying for a reputation of a show. Eddie V's best so far. Butcher their own steaks daily on premis and aged. Great atmoshere with great steaks
Been to a lot of steakhouses in Dallas and my favorites remain the same. 1) Pappa Bros. 2) Knife. 3) Al Biernat's. The parents swear by Al Biernat's but they are biased as it's in their hood.
Amazingly, I had a very good cast iron cooked ribeye at Hard Eight BBQ in Coppell several months ago.
my two favs are Bob's Steak and Chop house and Chamberlain's.
