You got me beat when it comes to longevity, but I’m a lifelong beatlemaniac myself. Still have all my albums I bought starting as a teenager, and keep buying the remasters. I’m a sucker for that stuff lol.

After reading some posts this morning, I was reminded of this song.
We're a fun lovin' crowd, kinda rowdy and loud
Our jukebox won't play no sad songs
So don't come in here, and cry in your beer
'Cause we don't care 'bout who done who wrong
We've got a five dollar fine for whining
We'll tell you before you come in
If it ain't on your mind to have a good time
Ya'll come back and see us again
Well we don't really care about your clothes or your hair
This party is open to all
Yeah we like a good joke, and it's alright to smoke
We got just one rule on the wall
We've got a five dollar fine for whining
We'll tell you before you come in
If it ain't on your mind to have a good time
Ya'll come back and see us again
Now there's too many fools makin too many rules
That's one thing you can't say about us
'Cause we all get along when we sing the same song
There's just one thing that causes a fuss
We've got a five dollar fine for whining
We'll tell you before you come in
If it ain't on your mind to have a good time
Ya'll come back and see us again

I was sitting here at home today, contemplating life, love, and music. It occurred to me that Steve Goodman died 40 years ago last month. He played for years knowing that he was dying of brain cancer. I was ever so fortunate to see him perform back in the 70s when he opened for Steve Martin.
If there was ever a song that reminded me of this unholy demimonde, this is it.

Happy 83rd birthday, John Lennon. If I had to pick a single favorite of his, it might be this one (the slow version, of course):

Oh, hell, I knew he was born in 1940 (just turned 40 when he was killed in 1980). I saw a few posts on X that said he was 83 and didn’t think to check the math.

this one cracked me up when I heard it live
Not the original DJ, it was part of a different DJ set
Surf City came up on our playlist. My wife giggled at J&D singing about when their woody broke down. I had to remind her that woody meant something different in the 60s. Sixty years later and thankful that my woody still works.
