Near the Galleria area it's Roegel's or Brisket House. Goode is terrible and has been resting on their laurels for decades now. Last I went the brisket was sliced thin like roast beef because it was that tough and dry. A place that defaults pouring sauce on your plate is a very poor representation of Texas barbecue. I am a former competitive pitmaster, a former state competition judge and was a consultant with the Washington Post on barbecue in Texas, so I know what I'm talking about.
