Might I offer my thoughts as learned years ago from someone much wiser than I in a non-descript classroom somewhere....

"tolerance is not just agreeing with one another or remaining indifferent in the face of injustice, but rather showing respect for the essential humanity in every person."[

it was probably William Ury, Director of the Global Negotiation Project, Program on Negotiation, Harvard Law School, whom I sincerely admire..

Nice quote Dennis. Showing respect for the essential humanity in every person is something we should all do.

I think "You deserve what you tolerate" refers to each persons life and the choices that have been made. People choose to tolerate certain behaviors/ situations but then later complain about that behavior/ situation. You derserve it because you tolerated it. If a person doesn't like the situation they are in, they need to take action to correct it. If they continue to tolerate the situation, they deserve the fall out.

Thanks lurkit, PennyLane, and dennisrn for contributing.

It has also been said that 90% of our misery is of our own making.
"Don't come here and grumble about going too fast. Get the hell out of the race car if you've got feathers on your legs or butt. Put a kerosene rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up there and eat that candy ass."
