MathGuy, I agree with most of what you have posted about the “stated” intent of these recent laws. However, often the stated intent diverges from the actual intent, or the breadth of the provisions written into the actual statutes.

In the case SESTA/FOSTA, I think the aothors purposefully elides some importatmt issues. Many supporters and drafters of the law see no relevant distinction between voluntary sex work and human trafficking. They mean to badly disrupt both. Now whether they will really try very hard is still open to question. That depends on resources, reaction within the government, and public reaction. But make no mistake. I think websites like this one are squarely within the ambit of those they would like to shutdown.

No doubt about it. "Pillow Talk" with some of the ladies I frequented back there revealed that to me. Not sure why but I was surprised about the female clients as well.

It's been said that the road to hell is paved with the bricks of "good intentions". So it is with this action. A bunch of jerks get together and say, "We HAVE to do something!" So they quickly throw something together. Any objections are shut down with, "We'll address that later." All gov't programs start like that. ACA, Medicare/Medicaid, etc. We will survive in spite of them!
