Bartering works great if you communicate effectively about expectations, stay honest and do the trade at the same time. It works for me anyway. I prefer cash but if I don't need the cash right away and have time to do it .... Why not? Sometimes its easy for the guy to hide or explain away some electronics or camera etc.
