Looking for Apartment/House to Rent

I've been looking for places to rent & I can't seem to determine which apartments are real on craigslist/realtor.com/other websites.

Any suggestions on good location places that aren't horrendously outrageous on their prices? $1200 for a 1 bedroom is CRAZY! I know it's gotten bad around there, but crimeny.
I'd like a 2 bedroom so I have an office, but a 1 bedroom would be fine, too.

I agree $1200 is cheap now days. I pay over $1300 for a 1 bedroom. You might try looking further out of Austin.. like Round Rock or Georgetown

or look further in out burbs like Buda or Kyle, or Bastrop or Manor. You'll pay more than $1200 for one bedroom in central city these days for sure.

I guess that's the price of living in a place as awesome as Austin!
I suppose I can justify it! It's just a culture shock coming out of Missouri where my mortgage is currently under $400, LOL

And……you will be living in a rough area. There are a lot of new units going up in the Dessau/Howard area. Of course, I am being partial because that would put you close to me.

rough area? I scoff at your delicate sensibilities. These suburban places are as safe as the central city, if not far safer.

I apologize for stepping on your toes. I am speaking of places I know of in that area where apartments go for $1000 to $1200 a month that are not safe. This comes from people I know living in the area who have suffered from assault and property damage many times in the past year. I’m sorry if I insulted you.

babe, don't be so serious. You did not offend me. I think you're being silly. I think u might be overstating the danger and being afraid of the "others" who must live in affordable housing with no choice. I ask please do not judge all those people and places where the common folks must live with your "safe white guy" ( I do not even know your race, making broad generalizations here myself) sensiblities. Nothing personal on either side, i just think you're making unfair generalizations about the majority of our society who is not able to afford more expensive rent.

There's a lot of new construction in Kyle, and since SH 45SW opened, I-35 isn't the only way to get to Austin from Kyle or Buda.
I'm not sure how zealous Hays County LE is compared to WilCo, but am curious.

Kyle is probably has good and bad areas like most places do. The same for Buda.

I heard someone say that North Austin/Lakeline/Round Rock is a pretty good area.

It is possible that someone was me... and also speaking with selfish intent, but it isa nice are though.

Facebook is also really popular and easy to use. Search in the GROUPS section using “Subleasing, apartments, apartments for rent.”
