May be the end of the hobby for me

Firstly , Houston is a lovely city. Plenty to do , healthy job market and a bunch of great people both locally and and imports from other parts of the US and internationally.

But I'm finding the hobby is not fun here at all. I understand the laws not just in Houston but nationally are prohibitive but on every trip it seems to go down hill. I'm struggling to find hook ups due to either Proximity, timing, verification, scams or simply just scared of being duped by LE. Visiting and living all of over the world, it's a really eye opener that in the US they have done a good job of taking a lot of the fun out of it. Also makes sense why when you see Americans in Latin America , continental Europe or Asia they are really wild. It's because the shackles are off.

This isn't a post to come complain, just an observation and reassurance maybe that its not all doom and gloom, lol. .

But after years of fun and games Houston may be the place where I retire from the sport

To me it sounds like the OP has possibly been around for a while and possibly just not on this board.
Dedication and commitment is not a prerequisite the last I checked. Everyone has their own reasons to hobby.
Sounds to me that the changes have made it harder and possibly just not worth it to him to continue.

When 1 Hobbyist/Provider disappears, 100+ more take their place. Nothing ever remains "the same". And it shouldn't. When the hobby stops being fun or serving its purpose, then it is definitely time to exit. That goes for anything in your life. Well, it should anyways. Only you know when you've had enough of something.

The hobby is still alive and well in my book

We don't track posts and threads in Houston per se by time frame, but as of this morning:

-- almost 55,000 red hot zone Houston ads posted; 29,000 in Daily ads
-- much of the above within the past 24 months

-- 4,500 Indy reviews

Did not attempt data from agency, spa, etc. reviews, but there are many.

Several hundred verified companions active in H-town for sure with over 900 photo albums.

Four very active verified agencies.

Who knows how many spas, studios, etc?

Ive been around on this board for only a couple of months as I was looking to be more active in the scene locally but been a lurker for a while. And been hobbying off and on in Houston for a while but to be honest moreso 5 years ago than now.

Probably just maybe my lifestyle is different and so the risks are no longer worth it. Also, Houston being such a spread out city with no really action center doesn't help. Hard to leave cold turkey and found a couple of lovely ladies I'm sure I will end up spending time in their company. Maybe I'm just spolied,.lol but as a regular hobbyist I just don't see it being for me. That is of course no critisicm of hobbyists or providers. Totally understand some of the changes are for safety and security but just like was said here if it's not fun what is the point. As technically a newby providing my personal details, deposits, credit cards for certain sites, etc sounds like the kind of thing that will come back to haunt me. And even then no place to meet the ladies in advance, jumping in my car and driving 30 mins and doing the do just to drive home is not my idea of fun but I'm also a party guy. Maybe just going back to pick up bars/clubs is more for me but for a long time hobbying was superior to that scene. Fun was had and ladies knew they would get compensated for their time.

Interesting. Things seem easier than ever on my end. The guys I encounter are amazing & business is brisk.

What I have noticed from some men is that they are seeking too much. They're looking for a huge combo of: looks, personality, services, a rate they consider fair & a location they view as safe. I read some of the ISOs & laugh my ass off, if I didn't know better I'd think they were looking for a wife & not a ******.

You just nailed it. Sometimes you have to read between the lines. Sometimes they just come out and admit it.

Some folks just have a hard time differentiating between a P4P site (OH2) and a dating site (Match.com).

Haha, not quite. I want click and buy. Ultimate convenience and fun. GFE really not necessary. But for all the hassle you have to go through to get paid sex in Houston. Might as well walk to the local bar and but a few.rounds of drinks. Easier and safer experience.

I moved more to the monger/punter scene 10 years ago because I didn't want a relationship or the pretence of a relationship. But again I understand the reason but sending a person I have never met my ID with real age, name and profession. Ethnicity ?!? And sometimes even a deposit sounds insane in a country where it's illegal. Like I said before I'm sure I will hobby a couple of times with some providers that I'm 90% confident but I won't be a "regular".

And I'm sure anyone who has hopped on a flight outside of the US to other lands would understand that while I'm not trying to denigrate the Houston scene they would understand it pales in comparison to other places. And for me personally it's not as fun and therefore not for me.

Of course I understand people will be defensive and rightly so. Plus you don't know me personally, just interpreting a few words on a forum. All I can say is if you knew me and my situation then you would know in no way am I in need or want of a girlfriend.

^^^^ THIS. Jesus already. I don't understand why people feel the need to announce their unhappiness about the Hobby or leaving the Hobby like this is "Dear Abby". Just leave. This is a business, nothing more nothing less. I promise you're forgotten about just as fast as we are. We all have real personal lives as well. And so the thread descended in to kind of what I expected. Don't worry, crawling back in to my hole never to be heard of again. Houston is the perfect monger spot and apologies for having the gumption to post anything different in the discussion section of a forum.
