Happy Single Mother’s Day

My single mother wasn’t perfect
But my mother did her very best
She worked so hard for us
To help us pass life’s test

She cried both tears of joy
And also tears of sorrow
But always had the highest hopes
For the future that was tomorrow

Looking back I never knew
she was so incredibly strong
The love she had lifted me
As she helped guide me along

I feel some sorrow and regret
That I never really let her know
The love and respect I had for her
That I did not always show

I wish I had just one more day
To tell her how I loved her so
So do not wait another day
Tell your mothers before they go

That you would never have been
That you would not have achieved
All the things they hoped for you
All the successes they believed

Without them your life would be
No where like it is today
With them so many mistakes
You avoided along the way

I will never forget her final words
“Thank you child for everything”
But she did so much more for me
what i did seems like really nothing

still my thank you feels so very
inadequate and never expressed
All that I owe her for where I am now
And my gratitude for her very best

I'm in that club. It's so refreshing to be good at something. Being a single mom is so much fun. It gets lonely then they show up to fill that empty space.
