Spectrum & Other ISPs Possibly Blocking OH2 Traffic?

Maybe it's just me, but I've noticed lately that I have frequent issues accessing, loading, and refreshing OH2 pages on my home ISP (Spectrum Internet). However, when I tether my tablet or laptop via my phone's wifi Hotspot, I have no issues at all. It's almost as though some big name ISPs are purposely slowing or interfering with OH2 access. Anyone else having similar issues???

I think you could test it by turning off wifi on your device when you're having troubles.
I too use spectrum wifi and have found that not much changes when switching between wifi and data.

Unlikely that any ISP will directly block access to adult websites (but you might compare this one to say pornhub.com or others) ... other loading issues might be related to your router settings, browsers using hidden IPs or to overloaded browser memory caches.

Almost all browsers will cache websites views to "facilitate" the user's experience which when overloaded will crawl on board very slowly. Always best to set a browser to clear recent site visits and just save one or two favorite links on any given site.

oh2 has recently suffered serious multiple loading issues due to external and internal traffic and possibly to unrelated outside search bots recently discovering the site, both Asian and European ... who knows?

Tech support and host support are aware of the issues and working to reduce and hopefully resolve them.

    Happy hobbying!

You might want to do a traceroute. It would be helpful to see where the problem is.

    Windows
    • Opend Command Prompt or Power shell ( WinKey+r, then type: cmd)
    • type: tracert ourhome2.net
    • Wait for the whole list

    MAC OS X, Linux, Unix
    • Open Terminal
    • type: traceroute ourhome2.net
    • wait for results

You can copy the list of items from the terminal to a text file or spread sheet to compare.

If they're the same list, but you're getting different results than it's possibly something in your local network and might require more troubleshooting.

Most likely possiblity are blocks from certain routes that make your connection take more hops to get to what you want. Either the IP you get with one connection might have restrictions due to its past use, or some routes you get from one connection could be blocking or restricting for whatever reason.

Let me know if you have any questions, will be happy to help if I can.

Thanks for the input and ideas! I suspect the issues I'm experiencing are originating with Spectrum's local switch/hub for my area. Whenever the gremlins pop up, I switch to my phone's wifi hotspot (T-mobile) and all is well. I have contacted Spectrum's tech support, and they grudgingly admitted to having some issues with consistency and connectivity in my neighborhood ever since SNOWMAGEDDON last month...

I have Spectrum at home and have not had any issues. Many years ago when I was in Virginia, I was having issues getting to some websites. It ended up being the free anti-virus software that the ISP sent me that was blocking the websites. I noticed it when I had to rebuild my computer. After that day, I never used an free anti-virus software and always used my own.

Try switching to Brave Browser ( https://brave.com ). Made a big difference in OH2 and other sites for me.

I can virtually guarantee you that's not the case. Such a postulation would be a teeny bit more plausible if the site were heavily trafficked and a very popular global site with many ethical or moral concerns. Those controversial aspects could gain traction in large organizations or in certain locales that are not subject to net neutrality laws which could block or slow traffic purposely to certain destinations. This site is simply not at that level on a global ranking; not to get that kind of attention. No offense to Oh2 at all; it would take a monumentally large site to garner such attention. However, it's still terribly unlikely b/c they would be in violation of net neutrality laws in the US.

You can run a traceroute to find the bottleneck. Most likely it's simply that during intermittent times when you're on Spectrum you are getting routed through a particular network that has significant congestion or less than optimal node routes.

Do a traceroute witch each connection: Spectrum, 4G/5G connection, or hotspot at a bookstore/coffeeshop and compare the node hops.

In order to get from your computer to the destination webserver (Oh2 in this case) you have to make a number of "hops" through router nodes that are part of a massive interconnected global network of networks (i.e. the internet).

The nodes your web request goes through to get to Oh2 vary when connected to Spectrum vs your 4G cellular network (or any other network).

You will be able to easily see which router hop is causing the most delay (typically in milliseconds). I can virtually guarantee you it's nothing to do with Spectrum and entirely to do with the quality of the routing algorithms in place for different networks at different times of the day, the quality of the routers themselves on various networks (bandwidth they can handle), the hosting end point (OH2 site), the network quality and congestion at that endpoint, and the various networks the hosting provider is connected to as well.

Just use whichever connection (home internet or cellular hotspot) gives you the best result.

I haven't had any issues what's so ever. I can't say I like spectrum compared to Xfinity but they don't offer it here since I made the moved back here. I miss the futures Xfinity would offer to the customers, like being able to connect to any service near by when not at home. Now since I've been a contractor in a certain job, I've learned never to do a contract, so passed on AT&t.

I came here to see if anyone else was having issues with their Pages loading extremely slow. It's only on here everywhere else I go they load just fine. I'm on an android which is what I've always used. The issue has been going on about 2 weeks.
