Those ads are more often than not a scam. A few legitimate providers sometimes ask for a deposit probably because of ncns. Personally I wouldn’t pay advance deposits.

Most are probably a scam. There are a number of reputable providers with a presence on Twitter that do ask for a deposit for large time blocks (I like multiple hours) which makes sense considering that they are locking in that reservation and a NCNS could be costly. If they are reputable and the deposit is for multiple hour schedules I don't have an issue with deposits. Some fly by night ad without any reputation, I would not make a deposit.
Reputable or not, if they ask for a deposit, move on. You have been advised.
