No mirrors - Just smoke

Every year I like to try growing something different. I'm playing with the idea of growing my own tobacco (legal stuff). Has anyone attempted this?

As a kid my buddies and I used to buy Bugler and wrap our own. We could make roughly 25+ smokes for about 14 cents. The only draw back was the inconsistency using the "Roll your own" machine. If I have a successful crop I might even try making up some cigars.

Again.... this is regular tobacco but if management thinks this is inappropriate I'll understand deleting the post.

I grew some tobacco a while back. It actually makes a good, flowering plant for landscaping. I sold that house but might try it again since you reminded me.

If you're growing it with the intent to smoke the leaves, it's a different story. The whole drying/curing process is pretty complex for a novice. My leaves way to brittle to wrap (like with a cigar), and so I crushed them and tried them in rolling paper. It tasted weird and was very harsh, but I'm not a cigarette smoker so that opinion can't be relied on.

The variety you get matters too, but it's been to long ago for me to suggest any.

Apparently, Nicotiana Azteca has a remarkable scent. It blooms in the evening and flowers all night long. If you have a greenhouse, you can get the seeds started now. I might give it a try. Looks interesting.

I've wondered why the smokers I know (who complain about the price of their habit) haven't tried this.

My mom grew it in the garden and my grandfather loved it.

There are many uses for Nicotiana - tobacco plant. Tobacco leaves are antiseptic and used to heal wounds, tic bites, skin condition, vertigo, pain relive, blood thinning, cancer, lung condition and many more. Also, tobacco leaves are used as pesticide, to fight against garden bugs, in very natural way.

So, grow it! It looks beautiful and smells great!
