I think the only BBQ downtown is Pappas.
Moonshiners on Main has something called Brisket nachos which are great.

Brooke is correct about Pappa’s (which sucks). I’d venture over to the Montrose area and hit The Pit Room on Richmond. Damn good Q.
Pit room is good for sure
If there's a Thomas BBQ near you, that's always been my favorite
Otto's barbecue at the downtown mall 1200 McKinney. I'll also vouch for the Pitt Room outside of downtown, also Gatlins isn't that far from downtown.

Otto's in food court at Allen Center if you MUST be Downtown. Pit Room is top 50 every 2nd year and 10 minutes from Downtown...incredible offerings.
Jackson Street right behind Minute Maid Park, decent not my top 10 but way better than Papas

Pinkerton's BBQ is the best IMO. North Main inside the 610 Loop very near the Spanish Flower Mexican Restaurant. Melt in your mouth pork ribs, big ass Fred Flintstone style beef ribs, great deserts also. Bring your wallet tho, cause it's not cheap!!
Jackson Street is the best downtown. The Gatlins pitmaster consulted on the Q there. Best BBQ close to downtown, maybe 5-10 minute drive is Truth
Jackson Street is the best downtown. Ray's is not too far if you dare to venture out.
Get out of downtown. Pinkerton's and Gatlin's are two of the best that I've had. Pappa's sucks. Way overrated.
Not anywhere near downtown but found this gem on my travels south (Kat's BBQ 3805 FM646, Santa Fe, TX 77510) if you're around that area it's worth a visit.
