It’s because a lot of guys start to feel close to the ladies. It’s still a business transaction. But hard not to develop at least some feelings of friendship, at least, after a while. Sometimes it’s easier to talk to her than people in civilian life about wife issues and other things. I have been pretty good friends with a few ladies myself and we both talked about everyday life, good and bad, on the phone and in person.
As for the old ECCIE board, I would occasionally post personal shit. But the shit I would post, wasn’t exactly things I’d post or want to talk about on Facebook. And the added bonus of being mostly anonymous helped too.

I don’t mind if a man speaks about his wife. Not at all, in fact.
The only time it bothers me is when they bad mouth thier partners, which I’m not fond of listening to that from anyone.
At least half the time, or often, I’m more of a sympathetic listener/counselor than anything else. I’m honored when a man confides in me. And I treat that information discreetly and with care.
That’s just me, though. We all like and prefer different things.

I agree what's the sense in coming to hobby if you're just going to talk about your significant other lol.
Sometimes we run across people in this industry that we become longtime friends with, and occasionally we share different things about your life and my life, but I think it should be left at that we should leave anybody that we're having real life relationships with out of the equation when we're dealing with a hobby situation.

There have been times when I've listened to a client ramble about his marriage issues, it wasn't an issue.
There have also been times when I've given a client a few ideas to spice things up at home,
but It was neither of those in this particular situation.
It was the guy (IMO) feeling guilty about hobbying so
he was trying to convince himself how GREAT his wife is.
In this situation, I feel he could tell her how GREAT she is (at home)
and leave her outside of my door.
