    That's awesome, but I think it should be rent free.
    Considering the circumstances and how many people who are able and willing to work but cant due to corporate shutdowns.

    Why do you believe its the Landlord's responsibility to provide free rent to you? Is your residence owned by the Chinese government? Did the Landlord cause you to loose your job? The county tax collector will sure have their hand out come October for taxes on the property.

    Might be a relative of Bernie's. Everyone else pay for me !!

    Landlords will lose rent. Their mortgages will default and the buyer of them if resold will get screwed. Will trickle down. Others can lose jobs too if the ' Landlord has to bit the bullet.'

    Delaying evictions etc. is very generous... But nothing is ever good enough. These fucks on CNN are literally ' encouraging a selloff' tomorrow. Why not? After all what does Jake Tapper give a shit if he is worth 19.8M or 11.9M. And I am sure Don Lemon's tears will be gone when the camera's shut off when he is drinking with all his Republican friends laughing his way to the bank. All those asshats will buy in cheap and get rich..

    These liberal media channels are going to cost the little guy more jobs than Trump ever will.

    My Family owns 30+ houses in greater Houston, all thankfully rented- actually we have a 95% occupancy rate year round because we keep the houses up to "snuff." We are allowing rent to be delayed or partial paid but only for those who are temporarily unemployed and willing to prove it. We are fortunate that all properties are all PIF but our monthly maintenance fees are substantial since most homes are 10+ years old. As of right now my manager says we have 3 renters who are temporarily unemployed, 6 report that they are working from home, the rest are doing fine. We have been buying and trading houses for over 30 years.

    I feel safe in assuming that we will ultimately get paid and my family agrees and we have always been of the opinion that doing the right thing is it's own reward.

    I don't have it at hand but mortgage and property taxes are also eligible for deferment. If your income is affected by this quarantine and shutdown then at the very least you won't have to pay mortgage payments on this.

    This will be interesting because despite what the sanders crowd would have you believe landlords aren't heartless. Coupled with the ability to defer the mortgage most will understand these folks are temporarily out of work. I'd rather keep a good tenant who is down on their luck especially when they have a job to go back to.

    On the other hand people trying to take advantage and going "lol you can't evict me bro" are in for a rude awakening when this lifts. Landlords have long memories. Land lords will often not go through official eviction proceedings but if someone were to use this situation to pull some shit then you can be damn sure that eviction is going on your record.

    Everyone wants their money, two days ago I got a letter from Liberty Mutual Home Insurance reminding me how they understand how this is a trying time for all, times are difficult and that Liberty Mutual is taking all measures to ensure homeowners the ....... due to the Chinesevirus.

    Today I open my mailbox to another letter from Liberty Mutual this time I open it up to see a bill with a 13% increase in premium. Good 'ole fashioned kiss on the lips followed by a kick in the balls! The American Way!

    BTW might be time for supper again. This time we get curbside delivery, than go park our cars like cops do eating doughnuts each facing the opposite directions to get the driver's side facing each other and eat our dinners in the car 6 feet apart. I think the typical space between yellow lines in that lot is probably 6 feet if not I have a tape measure. I suggest we bring our own silverware from home; tough to cut a steak with plastic. In fact may as well bring a plate too, knowing me I will cut thru my steak right in to the cardboard. Once finished we drive away.

    Only question is do we eat window up or window down either way I think bluetooth w our phones will be better; 6 feet is a long way to scream.

    Tenants shouldn’t have to pay rent if they can show a legitimate hardship due to the virus, and landlords should be eligible to get their mortgages and taxes deferred.

    Correct me if I’m wrong, but if you’re a landlord, the alternative is: kick the unemployed tenant out of your property, then pay to get the place cleaned, find a new tenant who can pay, risk having multiple interactions with multiple people during this search... and then you have no guarantee the new person won’t get laid off next month. Multiply this by every unit you own with a tenant who currently can’t pay.

    I don’t own property (anymore) and I’m hardly an expert but it seems like under the circumstances, the safest bet for landlords would be to work with the tenants they already have?

    And yeah, send everyone a check until this blows over. Call it socialism, call it whatever you want, but I was working in investments when the markets crashed in 2008. What we’re seeing today has a lot of eerie similarities and we’re going to see another recession if we don’t get money into some people’s hands and get them spending.

    If anyone needs me, I’ll be behind my couch, shielding myself from the blast I’ll undoubtedly get for this reply

    We've given out at least $2 trillion to the private sector which would traditionally re buy their stocks. Corporate America often does not do the right thing.

    40% of Americans make over $40k a year whereas the vast majority does not. Folks were already hurting prior and this virus has completely wrecked America.

    Something needs to be done to help American workers in addition to supporting corporations. Handouts, handouts and working together in this chaos is the only way to solve this.

    Truth is we are already in a economic recession and if not careful, we are heading towards an depression.

    Also something really gives me the hebegeebies about free money. I never got any money in 2008. I don’t want to take it but I did have to tap into savings for a big purchase and other bummers so I’m happy to take their money and let it circulate for a small gain. Still in the red over here tho. Lots of finagling and trying to stay a float so working with me on rent would help although I think I’ll be fine (keeps saying that).

    I never said the landlord should take a loss. I think it should be like the month in history we lost . No rent, no property taxes, as well as mortgages.
