Paloma Blanca on Broadway for a taste that is a bit more true to interior Mexican cuisine. For awesome Tex-Mex, El Rafa's on Hildebrand can't be beat.

Taco Riendo on McCullough, enchiladas and breakfast tacos. Great housemade flour tortillas. Creamy green salsa is also a standout.
Little Taco Factory on McCullough. Great enchilada plates. Crowds up for lunch.
The ritas at Paloma Blanca didn't meet my standard.

Ha! They only "think" they can do Mexican. I was in San Diego one time and I was having cheese enchiladas withdrawals. I stopped at this place that billed itself as the best Mexican food around. I couldn't eat it. It was awful. I tried it again in Lake Tahoe. Bad,bad, bad. Never again.

Thank you all again!! I love my San Antonio so much!!!!

I pretty much make the cut-off at HWY 90, but I have found an ok spot just north of 410 on Isom.

    Mariahi's Loco. Not bad.
Opinions and Assholes. Sometimes it's difficult to tell the difference - especially when you can't separate the two.

Darn, I wonder how I missed this thread!

We use Jacala Mexican Restaurant on West Ave for entertainment as the food is good and the atmosphere family friendly.

For great food, I frequent Rodeo Jalisco on Wurzbach and IH10.

When in the area Taqueria Vallarta (sp?) just inside Loop 410 on Broadway is great for lunchs - if you can find parking. It used to be either a Der Winersnitzle or a Whataburger - you can tell from the physical structure.

In general, if the lunch crowd parking is hard to find and there are lots of pickups there, the food is good.

    Enjoy your investigations.

I went to Tito's in Southtown.. some GOOD 'n HOT salsa... food had a good flavor.. but not a 100% home run.. G/Fawkes... in San Diego I used to go to Tio' Leo's Very consistant ---- Salsa had a good bit -- BURN about 1/2 thur the bowl..LOL. watch out the next day.. Old Town used to have Casa De Bandi... good food.. In Grossmont Center there is Casa De Pico... good stuff... then there is always Rosata in Mexico.. good fish taco etc..
