Looking for Best Mexican Food Recommendations

    Hi all,

I am now a resident of the beautiful city of San Antonio and I am looking for the best cheese enchiladas in the city.

So far, I have found Los Generales ( oh my, so delicious) and La Hacienda de Los Barrios ( very good too but the cheese enchiladas were better at Los Generales,IMO) and both of these served outstanding Mexican Martinis although the ones at Los Generales were a purple color and kinda sweetish which is very different then what I am used too - I loved them and cheap too - loved that even better!

    I'm like a mouse - love,love cheese!

Sounds like you're into Tex-Mex. Have you tried Chuy's?

For real Mexican, try El Mirasol at the Alon Center. Love their Cabrito tacos on flour tortillas!

    Hi Ellen.

My recommendation for best Mexican food is Taqueria La Perla on SE Military at Old Corpus Christi Road.

The best Boracho beans, fantastic nopalitos (cactus) and hands down my personal favorite Carne Al Pastor (marinated pork).

Be sure to go hungry and be ready for that doggie bag. The food is too good to go to waste.

ANYTIME family comes to town, this is the place I take them. We have never been disappointed.

Happy eating and let us know what you chose or choose,

Taco Riendo on McCullough, enchiladas and breakfast tacos. Great housemade flour tortillas. Creamy green salsa is also a standout.
Little Taco Factory on McCullough. Great enchilada plates. Crowds up for lunch.
The ritas at Paloma Blanca didn't meet my standard.

Ha! They only "think" they can do Mexican. I was in San Diego one time and I was having cheese enchiladas withdrawals. I stopped at this place that billed itself as the best Mexican food around. I couldn't eat it. It was awful. I tried it again in Lake Tahoe. Bad,bad, bad. Never again.

Thank you all again!! I love my San Antonio so much!!!!

I pretty much make the cut-off at HWY 90, but I have found an ok spot just north of 410 on Isom.

    Mariahi's Loco. Not bad.
