    Exclamation Decriminalization vs. Legalization

Decrim simply removes police interactions & criminal penalties.
Meanwhile, legalization still has instances of police interaction due to regulations,
licenses, zoning, processes, etc. and is not ideal for survival and low income sex workers.

Legalization is more probable to provide protections in law and more likely to occur than decriminalization. Simply because legalization is more profitable and more politically justifiable than mere decriminalization. In my opinion.

The government should classify us as the porn industry and be done with the BS. We get a business license and everyone is happy.

And how would that improve the current situation? Even porn has advertising restrictions and implicit associations like alcohol, tabacco and gambling.

Like Phoenixx, I prefer simple decriminalization to licensing. And rather than the porn industry, how about entertainment or counseling services?

We should give sex workers what THEY want, and fuck government and what’s in it for them. I thought that this woman stated it nicely.

I concur. However, I suggest that the government's objective is to generate revenue not necessarily to reduce crime, make sex work safer or empower sex workers. I concur because metadata analysis consistently finds that decriminalization produces the best outcomes with the least undesirable consequences in a cost effective manner.

I agree with Phoenixx. Decriminalization is far better for the sex worker and for *all* parties currently engaged in the various revenue generating aspects of the sex work profession.

Wes, when you say it's more profitable legally surely you mean only for the govt? There is no possible way it's more lucrative for anyone in the sex work profession (be it indie providers, man/woman, managers, or site operators).

Decriminalization is the best route. We don't want ridiculous oversight, taxation, all these zoning/ordinance laws, policies, process laws, etc... All these things will put money in the govts pocket and take it out of all the people involved in sex work (again, at *every* level of the sex work pyramid or chain).

Edit: One other thing I'll mention, and why I've said not to worry about new laws against it, such as the recent thread that came up, is b/c though it's not technically decriminalized yet it is all but a defacto standard that it actually *is* virtually decriminalized for communities like these.

Legalize it, license it, zone it, tax it. Like porn actors, escorts are paid performers.

One of these days, it will be legal. But unfortunately for an old fucker like me, I won't see it.
But on the other hand, I never thought weed would be legal either. States are jumping on that tax cash.
Same with gambling. I remember when it was only legal in Nevada and N.J., now the casino's are everywhere.
So, about the time my old wrinkled pecker will never see a boner again is probably when they will legalize pussy.
I prefer CLEAN, soft, clean, sexually aggressive, mature ladies. I like chocolate just as much as vanilla.

How will people be able to add prostitution tax write offs during tax season when it's time to file? They will be in hot water with their spouse.
And some farmers are already setting up shop growing weed in Texas where it is still illegal. The state is just allowing their buddies to set up shop first.

Weirdly enough, porn is sex for money, and it is somehow legal.

If I were to pay a girl for sex here in Dallas, that is stupidly a crime.

If they decriminalize prost. the divorce courts will have 1,000's of lines wrapped around the building the very next day.
