I&#39;d prefer that smilies be kept to an absolute minimum. Reason being, some posters tend to overuse them.
(and this is just me, but...). I know that if I continually see a lot of smilies in someone&#39;s posts, I&#39;ll usually skip reading it.

They&#39;re simply too distracting, annoying, and some use smilies almost to the point of their becoming nauseating. You just see them over and over and over and in each and every post .....uggh! These are received by me as a not-so-subtle attempt to advertise ones&#39; services. If I wanted to view an ad I&#39;d go to to the ad forum because that&#39;s where they&#39;re *supposed to be* located. I just shake my head and skip over these type of posts.

Smilies (imo) are supposed to be used to emphasize a persons emotion, or the &#39;mood&#39; of the intended message and imo, there are enough of them currently to do this effectively.

I like smilies but I&#39;d honestly prefer it if things were kept clean, simple, and uncluttered. I like it as-is.

Just my take on the matter.
