Never been to New York, I heard the men are serious about the hobby, they don't good off, etc.. etc..
Like everywhere else the loss of Backpage/Craigslist and the temporary loss of Eros slowed things down and things have not yet fully bounced back.
Oddly enough this slowness makes for increased opportunity.
For someone touring and looking to advertise, Slixa and Eros probably provide the most visibility (albeit at a higher cost), Cityxguide and Skipthegames are the next lower tier and both come with cautions. Of the local boards I fin only tnaboard isn't a cesspool and has a reasonable level of activity.

As a traveling gypsy ho....I make several routes.....after all these years I have found the south to be my best spot for summer! I used to kickass in Florida in summer..but havent been there in awhile.
The midwest is so-so for summer..but better in fall and winter
