Solid choice.
I'd say ghost in shell, I prefer the stand alone complex series.
The samurai 7 animated series is great and dare I say it better than the Kurosawa classic.
Also Blue eyed samurai on Netflix is off to a great start too.
Ghost in the shell made me want to be a hacker growing up lol! I took one course and transferred tf out in college tho haha I loveee the shows and the moviessss. the live action could have not been a thing but I'll forgive them for that hahaQuote:

God Eater on netflix is amazingg BUT you HAVE TO watch it subbed! The feels really hit 100 fold in subbed
I used to watch Cowboy Bebop with my son when he lived with me. I loved it. Also, One Punch Man used to crack me up.
CowBoy bebop is a CLASSIC! also the voice actor voices like everyone and their father and their grandmother!
haha omg i was just about to say Spike reminds me of Mugen from Samurai Champloo and he voiced him too! And Orochimaru! and TOM from TOONAMIIIII

The big 3 Trifecta in my mind is Cowboy Bebop, Big-O, and Samurai Champloo who all have the main characters voiced by the same guy! lmao

Akira is a classic. Attack on Titan and Bleach.

As much as I love shonen, I appreciated anime more as I explored other genres within the space. I don’t know if I’d call them must watch but these are some of my favorites that were recommended to me at one point in time.

Attack on Titan
Mushishi is a super underrated anime. It's a much slower pace than some of the others mentioned here. More thoughtful and heartfelt.
Cowboy Bebop is forever frozen in time (no debate) as #1 for me, with honorable mention of Fist of the Northstar for the old-school stuff.
Rurouni Kenshin (season 2) is the arguably the best combat anime of all time.
JoJo's Bizarre adventure, all seasons belong in any top 10 list.
Also, love Blade of the Immortal.
I'm very surprised this anime wasn't mentioned:
-Yu Yu Hakusho (one of the best animes with minimal
filler).
-Gundam (darn near all of them are legit).
Some classics: Galaxy Express 999.
